Island & Whale（孤岛与鲸）

Inspired by the metaphor of the 52-hertz whale, Island & Whale explores solitude, imagination and the desire to be understood. A cat-like traveler looks toward a whale, the moon and a constellation of marine creatures, turning an inner feeling into a dreamlike ocean narrative.

The composition was developed through hand-drawn linework, decorative framing and densely layered details. Shells, stars, coral and celestial symbols build a world between the sea and the night sky, while two colorways explore how the atmosphere shifts from quiet blue-green to a warmer blue-yellow palette.

The illustration was later translated into a silk scarf. Scale, placement and border rhythm were considered so the image could remain expressive both when fully opened and when folded, tied and worn.
